This is the view from where I was sitting at the hotel lobby where I stayed during my vacation in Hong Kong a week ago.
It was a great holiday. It was not one of the most relaxing ones ( if i compared this to lazing on the beaches in phuket or bali). However, there was plenty of walking around the streets of Hong Kong in search of the best wanton mee, the best char siew and the best cha chan teng.
And I am proud to announce that we found the best cha chan teng around that serves the best maggi mee and the cafe that serves the best wanton mee!

You don't see it in the picture, but I swear their wantons are crunchy! And how did they get their maggi mee to be so springy?
Credits to my cousin, Gwen, who has been living in Hong Kong for recommending all these great eating places in HK.
Ok so before we get started on the wrong foot, the disclaimer is that I do not always do this. This is not my daily staple (heaven forbids!). Note: I do this only when I am on a holiday and there is a great excuse to do so as my cousin puts it best, "you are on a holiday! You have an excuse to eat anything you want!"
Which I totally agree with this statement! No guilty pleasures remember? Just pure enjoyment when you are on a holiday! There is no reason not to have the best delicacies when you travel to a foreign land especially when it is supposed to be a rest and relaxation. It's certainly quite silly to deprive yourself of the good food when you are on a retreat. I believe most will agree with me!
So enough with the eating aspect on holidays, back to the picture of the view that I posted from the hotel lobby. If you squint hard enough, it is the Manulife building in the background. Hong Kong, obviously a densely populated city, has many tall buildings. The Manulife building is my inspiration of this post.
Amidst a busy and bustling city like Hong Kong, I realize that everyone is working hard to earn a monthly wage so that they can invest in more financial assets that will make them wealthy. Everyone does this in hope that when they finally retire, they will accumulate enough financial assets ( saving plans, investment-linked plans etc) that will generate passive income so they can enjoy leisurely hobbies in their retirement days!
But while everyone is busy pursuing their financial security and investing in financial assets, we sometimes forget about our health and fitness. Sure, as Manulife puts it, you can pay additional for health insurance, but does that ensure a quality of life? Instead of assuming that life is good because you've got everything covered, why not start by investing in your own life and health right from the start? I'm sure that when we finally retire and have financial independence, we would want to enjoy it and spend it actively :)
Just like this old lady!
Looking good, woman!
Stay tune for my next post, for I will share with you all how I normally eat, and i don't mean during holidays (no more maggi mees and wantons!) ;)
